Worship Commitee
Wesley Chapel is a worshipping congregation. Below are many opportunities for leadership in worship. To volunteer for any of these activities, please contact us.
Altar Guild
The Altar Guild faithfully prepares the sanctuary and altar for services and maintains the altar appointments, linens and vessels as necessary. They coordinate the placement of flowers and see that either flowers or greenery is in place for all services. They change out the paraments according to the church season and change out the candles on a weekly basis. They make the necessary preparations for the special celebrations such as Baptism. Service will be on a rotation basis as desired.
Specific needs include (but are not limited to):
- Volunteer to place flowers in the Sanctuary on a given Sunday - cost is approximately $70-80 for two arrangements
- Assist in preparing the Sanctuary for worship (straightening pew racks, sharpening pencils, putting out and replacing materials as needed in the pew racks; if time allows, make a quick check after worship for attendance sheets that may have been missed; can be done anytime during the week)
- Supply Coordinator: Work with the various worship subcommittees to order and maintain inventory of worship equipment and supplies - special occasion bulletin covers, candles, envelopes, pencils, attendance pads, etc.
Acolytes
Young people sixth grade through high school, are invited to serve in the church as Acolytes. Acolytes assist in the ceremonial elements of weekly services. Duties include lighting the candles, presenting the offering plates to the ushers, or special ceremonies. They are trained and are always ready to serve with enthusiasm and dedication and take to heart the importance of their role in the worship service. Service will be on a rotation basis one month a quarter.
Acolyte Leaders train acolytes in lighting candles and proper etiquette in worship services. Service will be on a rotation basis.
Communion Steward
This committee prepares the elements for monthly 1st Sunday Communion and other Communion services. They obtain the necessary vessels and linens for the designated method of partaking of communion at a given time. They keep watch during Communion services in case elements need replenishing or other assistance is needed. Service will be on a rotation basis as desired.
Greeters
Greeters give a warm welcome to worshipers and provide directions and information as needed. Service is on a rotation basis one month a quarter.
Prayer Ministry
Become a participant in Friday Noon Prayer Time. Write cards to those whose name has been lifted up in prayer. Develop and edit the prayer list. Place the prayer list on Power Point
Ushers
Ushers distribute bulletins, collect offerings, and assist with various responsibilities of ushering for Sunday services and special functions. They Assist in tabulation of attendance and counting the offering. Service is on a rotation basis one month a quarter.
Wedding Committee
Wedding committee members coordinate details with clergy, musicians, and Altar Guild as needed.
